Neuer Confident Bayern Munich Can Eliminate PSG

Bayern Munich goalkeeper Manuel Neuer is optimistic that the European champions are capable of exploiting Paris Saint Germain’s defensive frailties to advance to the UEFA Champions League semi-finals on Tuesday.

Neuer Confident Bayern Munich Can Eliminate PSG

Bayern Munich were put to the sword 3-2 by PSG in their own backyard last week, with Kylian Mbappe proving to be a real thorn in the flesh of the German champions.

Hansi Flick’s men will head to the Parc des Princes for the second leg with a mountain to climb and they will have to do it without star forward Robert Lewandowski, who is still recovering from a knee injury sustained on national team duty with Poland.

But Neuer, who captained Bayern to the title last season, is adamant that their French counterparts are not so compact at the back and they will be looking to take advantage and advance.

"We need to stay calm in our heads, but have fire in our heart. We want to approach the game the right way, with motivation, a good attitude of course, and the stability you need against such quick players." the Bayern goalkeeper told Bundesliga.com.

"We’ll need to keep our cool, play attacking football and put them under pressure. They have problems at the back. If we create as many chances as we did in Munich, then we can do it."

Should Bayern Munich advance, they will face either Manchester City or Bundesliga rivals Borussia Dortmund in the semi-finals.
