The former Spain international returned to the Premier League to join Chelsea in 2014, after just three seasons in Spain thanks to Mourinho.

Fabregas quickly became an integral part of the Chelsea team that won the 2014-2015 Premier League title.

The 33-year-old worked with other great managers like Pep Guardiola and Arsene Wenger, a man who handed him his professional club debut at the age of 16, but the Spaniard still believes the Portuguese coach was the one who best managed him.

“When I was with Mourinho, I realised that he was the coach who best managed my head,” Fabregas explained in an interview with Rio Ferdinand.

“He is the perfect coach for great players, he works a lot on the psychological side and it motivates you.

“One day we were on a streak in the league and I got a message from Mourinho, I thought it was to say we were playing well, but it turned out he was telling us all that we had been awful in the last match.”

Fabregas also revealed how Mourinho lured him to sign for the West Londoners during the summer of 2014.

“He called me and said ‘I only need two players, I will sign Diego Costa and for sure, if you come with me then we’ll be champions,” he added.

”He has a system that works very well and he only wants specific players for that system.”

The Catalonia-born star is currently plying his trade in the French Ligue one with Monaco.
