Ahmed Musa Denies He Has Tested Positive For Covid-19
Nigeria captain Ahmed Musa has denied social media reports that he has tested positive for the Coronavirus disease.
The 27-year-old has returned to Nigeria from Saudi Arabia, where he currently plays for Al-Nassr.
As part of measures to stifle the spread of the virus, the Nigeria government has ensured that all foreign arrivals are mandatorily quarantined for a period of 14 days; a directive Musa is adhering to.
However, reports have gone awash on social media in recent days that the former Leicester City and CSKA Moscow man has tested positive for Covid-19.
Musa has categorically denied the reports, labelling them as ‘false news’.
“It has come to my notice that certain individuals have decided to post false news about me testing positive to Covid-19,” he wrote on Instagram.
“This is a pandemic taking people’s lives in thousands so it is sad that some people want to use this to gain followers or views on their pages by spreading falsehood.
“My family and I came in from Saudi Arabia and decided to follow the government’s rule of isolation for 14 days not because any of us have the virus.
“We are perfectly okay and have not tested positive to the virus. Please don't fall for the malicious messages circulating about me or my family. Stay safe, maintain social distancing.”
Nigeria has so far recorded 873 Covid-19 cases with 28 deaths and 197 recoveries.
