Mane Inspired By Last Season

Sadio Mane’s Liverpool are enjoying yet another incredible season, and the predatory winger has alluded the reason to the side’s impressive run last season.

Liverpool finished third on the Premier League table last term and played in the finals of the Champions League though they lost 3-1 to Real Madrid.

The Reds have started the 2018/19 season on a good note as they are 2nd on the league log with 30 points; two points adrift leaders Manchester City, having gone twelve games without defeat.

Jurgen Klopp’s side also top Group C in Europe with six points, alongside Napoli and above PSG and FK Crvena Zvezda.

Sadio Mane has once again been key to Liverpool's course by scoring six goals in eleven league outings and a goal in four European games.

“It was a great season, sadly, we didn’t win anything, but for this season it is motivation for us, to repeat it and try to go for it, and win it," Mane told the BBC.

Mane's performance last season has earned him a nomination for the 2018 BBC African Player of the year award alongside Liverpool teammate Mohammed Salah, compatriot and Napoli defender, Kalidou Koulibaly, Morocco and Juventus’ Mehdi Benetia and Ghana and Atletico Madrid’s Thomas Partey.

This year’s nomination marks the fourth for Mane, and the Senegalese international said he aims to win the award one day.

“This is my fourth time to be nominated for the BBC African Footballer of the Year. It’s something that will give me more motivation to keep working harder and harder, and hopefully I will win it one day.”
