Lingard Craving For Ronaldo Return At Man United

Manchester United winger, Jesse Lingard, has revealed that he would love the club to bring back Cristiano Ronaldo for a second spell.

Ronaldo was signed by Sir Alex Ferguson as a skinny winger in the summer of 2003 from Portuguese club Sporting Lisbon, and by the time he left Old Trafford for Real Madrid in 2009, he had developed into a well-built ultimate goal machine.

Now a five-time Ballon d'Or winner, the Portuguese striker now plies his trade in Italy with Juventus, having helped them win an eighth straight Scudetto last weekend.

Before Ronaldo joined Juventus at the start of this season, it was speculated that a return to Old Trafford could be on the cards, and Lingard, who came through the youth ranks of Manchester United before making an upgrade to the first team under Louis Van Gaal, would love to have that happen.

‘I would love Manchester United to sign Cristiano Ronaldo. He has been one of the best players in the world over the last decade,’ Lingard told The Daily Mirror.

‘He has been here before so he would slot right back in.

‘Growing up he was just unbelievable to watch in a United shirt, so on a personal note it would be amazing to play with him.’

Ronaldo, 34, has featured 28 times in the Italian Serie A, scoring 20 goals and recording eight assists while he also struck six times in nine Champions League games before Juventus were eliminated at the quarter-final stage by Ajax Amsterdam.

Ronaldo, during his time at United, won a league and Champions League double in the year 2008, a year he won his first Ballon d'Or award.

The Euro 2016 winner joined the Spanish giants in the summer of 2009 for a then world record of £80 million.
