Emery Demands Ozil

Arsenal manager Unai Emery has told Mesut Ozil to be consistent in order to gain more playing time at the club.

The former Sevilla manager believes the German offensive midfielder can become a permanent member in his starting-XI the latter improves on his form both at training and in competitive games.

Mesut Ozil’s has been reduced to a part player under Emery because of his inconsistent form as he has managed only 14 games with three goals in the Premier League and three appearances with just a goal in the Europa League for the London based club this season.

The World Cup winner was a regular feature under Arsenal’s longest-serving manager, Arsene Wenger, under whom he recorded eight assists in the 2017/18 Premier League season.

He has however lost favour under Unai Emery this season as he has failed to impress the Spaniard in the few games he has been featured in.

Emery believes that the player, who has made just a single assist in the Premier League campaign, holds the keys to his redemption and is backing him to improve or prolong his status as a part player.

“First, mostly, the key is in his hand.”

“And he is working very well this week. I ask him in our conversations to be consistent. To be available for us training."

“When you can train with regularity, consistency, you can help us after in the games. Now I think this week is good for all the players because we are in an important moment for the season."

“He needs to be consistent, be available for training, for the matches. Without the injuries, without being sick. Like that, I think we can see the best Mesut with us.”
