Benfica Confirm Atletico Madrid

Portuguese giants Benfica have confirmed that they have received an offer worth €126 million from Spanish LaLiga club Atletico Madrid for their wonderkid Joao Felix.

Having burst onto the scene in the Portuguese league, Joao Felix has become one of the most sought after players in the domain.

With the 19-year-old linked with a huge money move to Premier League outfit Manchester City and Zidane’s Real Madrid, Atletico Madrid have shocked the sporting fraternity with their current €126 million offer.

The said offer has seen Atletico Madrid jumping to the head of the queue for the services of the youngster.

On the other hand, the Madrid club are said to be pressing for the deal to materialise as they prepare for life after their departing French striker Antoine Griezmann.

After spending five years at the Wanda Metropolitano, Greizmann disclosed his intention of leaving the side and the club seem ready to replace him with the signing of Joao Felix.

But Benfica though have confirmed a bid from Atletico has been received as they are yet to accept with the club’s hierarchy currently analysing the deal.

The quoted amount is said to be above the buyout clause of €120m set under the player’s contract.

Reports are that Los Rojiblancos have already agreed a five-year contract with Joao Felix having started negotiations with the player at the start of June.

Deigo Simone’s side are set to lose their versatile midfielder Rodri who has been linked with a €70 million move to Premier League side Manchester City and the arrival of Felix will give an addition to the attacking department of the side.
