Arsenal Close on Signing Everton From Gremio

Arsenal are set to sign Everton Soares from Brazilian side Gremio for £36 million.

Having been impressive with Brazil in the summer Copa America, aiding the Selecao to win the accolade, Everton has attracted interest from several European clubs.

And with the Gunners reported to be far away from the valuation price for Crystal Palace winger Wilfried Zaha, Everton has been regarded as an alternative for the overrated Ivorian forward, as Crystal Palace demand £70 million for the 26-year-old.

Reports in the domain are that Everton is set to join the Emirates club from Gremio after the two clubs agreed on a fee of £36 million with Arsenal considering him to cost relatively cheaper than Zaha.

Fuelling rumours surrounding Everton’s potential move to Arsenal, it was reported that the London-based club sent their team doctor to conduct a medical in Brazil this week.

Scoring 15 goals in 31 matches with three assists for Gremio last season, the pacey winger earned his international call-up from that feat.

Replicating the same form at the Copa America, Everton registered his name on the scoresheet, scoring in the group stage games against Bolivia and Peru before finding the back of the net in the final against Peru at the Maracana.

The 23-year-old Brazilian winger would become Arsenal's second signing of the summer after the side recruited his fellow countryfolk, Gabriel Martinelli from Ituano last month.
